This is all actionable and sensible. It makes so much sense. I'll admit that since I got divorced +10 years ago, I've been a lot better at controlling everything, but I guess it is a lot easier, when you only have yourself to answer to. Thanks for sharing - financial education is an ongoing proces

I did this with the first and second marriage. For my third marriage (celebrating 24 years), we opted for a joint account, like you have above, for all essentials and a vacation fund. However we also have our individual accounts. How else can I purchased a $500 purse as a surprise for her if she knows about it or questions how I'm spending money I earned. No judgement either. This works for us. And apparently for the longevity of my marriages.

That’s great, Juin. I thought about tackling the gifting situation in my post. Rather than physical objects, we’ve shifted to experiences and we tend to plan those collaboratively.
